Being the Official Timekeeper of all events organized by the Meydan Group, Longines is proud to have been timing the nine races of the Dubai World Cup, held on Saturday 26 March, at the impressive facilities of the Meydan Racecourse. This event marked the end of the Dubai international flat-racing season 2016, which began in January with the Dubai World Cup Carnival Opening Night.   On Saturday, the day finished with the Dubai World Cup race, which was won by Victor Espinoza on California Chrome, while the other highlight of the day, the Dubai Sheema Classic presented by Longines saw the victory of Andrea Atzeni on Postponed. The winning jockeys, trainers and owners of these two important races received Longines watches.   In line with its famous slogan “Elegance is an Attitude”, Longines honoured Abir Bennani as the Longines Most Elegant Lady of the racetrack. She was awarded Longines watch.   The Dubai World Cup, which gathered the world’s best jockeys and horses, offered the perfect opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event, a model of The Longines Master Collection. This men chronograph features a refined silvered stamped barleycorn dial with a moonphase display. The transparent case back of its stainless steel case reveals the self-winding mechanical movement.

    Alpine Skiing

With less than 8 days before the start of the FIS Alpine World Cup Finals in St. Moritz, Longines is looking forward to timing the performance of the best skiers of the planet. In celebration of this climax of the alpine skiing season, the Swiss watch brand is showcasing, in the Bucherer boutique located in the heart of  St. Moritz, the overall crystal globe, as well as the Conquest 1/100th St. Moritz, an exclusive timepiece specially created to mark the partnership between Longines and the Swiss alpine resort. The hints of yellow and blue on the watch’s hands, dial and flange are reminiscent of the iconic St. Moritz logo, which is engraved on the back of the case.   It was in 1933 in Chamonix that Longines’ connection to Alpine skiing was born. From the first broken-wire system to the modern electronic equipment, Longines has initiated a number of technological innovations to meet the challenges of each era. Relying on this heritage, the brand continues today to put its know-how at the service of the snow arena as the Official Timekeeper of the FIS Alpine World Cup season, and of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, taking place in St. Moritz in 2017.
