No. 1 seed Siddhant J Banthia and unseeded Rashmikaa S Bhamidipaty booked their tickets for the 'Roland-Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition by Longines' play-off to be held in Paris on May 26, 2018 as the two players won their respective Final matches of the 'Roland-Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition by Longines' here today on the clay courts of the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA). It was Siddhant J Banthia who won the Final match in the Boys category while Rashmikaa S Bhamidipaty came out on top in the Girls category of the competition. The 'Roland-Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition by Longines' is a part of the fourth edition of the 'Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros'. Siddhant J Banthia had won the competition last year as well but failed to make an appearance in Paris, France due to injury. However, the youngster from Maharashtra made up for it by securing a trip to the land of the Roland-Garros by winning the final match against Mann Maulik Shah 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(3) in what turned out to be a very competitive encounter between the two. Siddhant won the first set comfortably but Mann showed determination to win the second set. The final deciding set was a well-matched one and it saw Siddhant snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat as he saved a match-point when he was trailing 4-5. The youngster showed why he was the No. 1 seed as he kept his calmness and won the match in the tie-breaker. Thus, becoming the winner of the competition. In the Girls' final, it was Rashmikaa S Bhamidipaty who continued her fine form in the competition as she defeated Tanisha Kashyap in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Rashmikaa had earlier defeated two seeded players in the competition leading up to the Final, and her performance in the final match was proof as to why the talented youngster from Telangana secured a trip to Paris. The first set saw Rashmikaa dominate from the start as she got into the rhythm, hitting aces at will as Tanisha struggled to keep pace. The second set, however, was a bit difficult for Rashmikaa as Tanisha tried to look for an opening to make a comeback into the match. But Rashmikaa's performance towards the end of the match made sure that she secured the victory in straight sets. The fourth edition of 'Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros' will now move to Bangalore, India for the 'Roland-Garros Amateur Series by Longines' which will an open-for-all exhibition series taking place at the Bowring Institute from April 30th - May 6th 2018.

For the first time in its history, the Longines Masters series, of which the Swiss watch brand is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper, stopped by the vibrant city of New York for its third and final leg. This setting was chosen by the brand to bring an elegant conclusion to a project which started in May 2016 already, when its Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet visited Longines’ headquarters in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, and fell in love with a yellow gold watch with a refined design going back to the beginnings of the brand’s Flagship collection. Naturally, a desire was born to create a signature timepiece – unique, signed and limited to five models. Finally, following an official presentation of the collection in the brand’s boutique located at Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, three of these timepieces were auctioned for the benefit of the Golden Hat Foundation, a charity co-founded by the British actress and dedicated to changing the way people on the autism spectrum are perceived. Today, during a private event organised at Longines’ World Trade Center boutique in New York, these exceptional “Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet” timepieces were presented in person by the Ambassador of Elegance to the generous owners, coming from Australia and China. This was the opportunity for them to be told by Kate Winslet about the history behind the timepiece, the reasons why this specific model pulled at her heartstrings and her contribution to the Golden Hat Foundation. Kate Winslet said: “It was a real honour for me to meet the people who appreciate the beauty and the history behind the “Flagship Heritage” timepieces, and to officially thank them for their extreme generosity. Their contribution will make a significant difference in helping the Golden Hat Foundation raise awareness about autism. Being in New York to witness the success of this collaboration with Longines is extremely fulfilling and only acts to give me more motivation to continue working towards achieving the goals of the foundation" Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President and Head of International Marketing said: “Longines is honoured to have been given the opportunity to help the Golden Hat Foundation. We sincerely hope that the generous purchasers of the Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet timepieces will be proud to own an exclusive Longines watch as well as contribute to the charity’s cause. The values of our brand have always led us to serve philanthropic purposes. Social responsibility remains today one of our priorities. Kate Winslet’s inspiring commitment truly translates our motto and philosophy of “Elegance is an Attitude.” In the evening, Kate Winslet attended the Longines Masters of New York, where she received, together with Golden Hat Foundation’s President Margret E. Ericsdottir, a cheque comprising the benefit of the auction. This presentation took place in presence of guest attendees wearing a symbolic golden hat, as autistic individuals and their families were invited by local equine therapy centers to enjoy the event. The evening was indeed dedicated to autism awareness as both Longines and EEM chose to support care for autism across three continents, by conveying a message of inclusion and the chance to make dreams come true.   About the Golden Hat Foundation The Golden Hat Fondation is a charity co-founded by the British actress Kate Winslet. It focuses on distribution of information about autism and autism awareness, encouraging a different approach and view of the condition. It has a special focus on those autistic individuals that are either non-verbal or otherwise on the more severe end of the autism spectrum. These individuals that are often thought less capable or less intelligent are indeed very gifted in many cases and possess normal intelligence but just lack the means of communication that allows them to express their intellect. Key message of the Foundation is to shine a light on the abilities of those that are autistic and advocating for increased opportunities for this part of the autistic population.

The career of American Mikaela Shiffrin has been marked by superlatives. Although only 23 years old, she has already won all major alpine ski titles – as well as three Longines Rising Ski Star Prizes – and was awarded her second Crystal Globe on March 18 during the FIS World Cup Finals in Åre, Sweden. Just one month after Mikaela’s new outstanding achievement, the Swiss watch brand Longines invited her to visit the brand’s headquarters in Saint-Imier. For the US ski champion, a member of the Longines family since 2014, this was an opportunity to explore the production workshops, the brand’s museum, and, more generally, to witness first-hand the awe-inspiring watchmaking expertise which has characterized the winged hourglass brand for the last 185 years.   Before meeting with the employees and the many young skiers from the Ski Club Saint-Imier and Ski-Club Chasseral Dombresson-Villiers who came to greet the talented athlete, Mikaela Shiffrin was entrusted with the exciting task of personalizing a model from the Conquest collection, which will subsequently be produced as a limited edition and unveiled in the beginning of the 2018/2019 alpine skiing season.   Delighted at having had the opportunity to express her interpretation of the brand's motto “Elegance is an Attitude”, the American champion said, “I am very honored to have been invited to Longines to learn about its rich history, its expertise, and the complex process of producing a watch. I will never look at my watches the same way again! Having the opportunity to personalize a Longines watch and express my vision of elegance is an unforgettable experience. I hope that my fans will see some aspects of my personality in this watch, my athletic and dynamic side coupled with my own special feminine touch. I would like to thank my partner Longines once again for its invaluable support, and I look forward to discovering this unprecedented piece in a few months!”   The Swiss watch brand is looking forward to this new collaboration with the American skier. As elegant in life as she is on skis, Mikaela Shiffrin is a true inspiration for all young athletes of her generation. Her values of fair play and integrity, along with the devotion she displays, make her a perfect Ambassador of Elegance for Longines, active in alpine skiing since 1924.
