    Dubai World Cup & Longines Dubai Sheema Classic 2019

    As Official Timekeeper of all events organised by the Meydan Group, Longines was proud to time the nine races of the Dubai World Cup, held on 30 March, at the impressive facilities of the Meydan Racecourse. The Swiss watch brand also lent its name to the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, one of the biggest turf races in the world, claimed by Old Persian led by William Buick. Old Persian’s winning owner, trainer and jockey received elegant timepieces from the hands of Matthieu Baumgartner, Vice President Marketing of Longines and Patrick Aoun, Brand Manager of Longines Middle East.   The Dubai World Cup was the perfect opportunity for Longines to highlight a model from the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection, as the Official Watch of the race day. This timepiece, featuring a blue dial, is equipped with an exclusive movement renowned for its high degree of precision for an analog watch (± 5 seconds/year) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field. These attractive features are likely responsible for its exceptional movement status, to which a very long battery life and a perpetual calendar must be added.

    Stunning victory of Kiamichi at the 63rd run of the Longines Golden Slipper

    On Saturday 23 March, the Swiss watch brand Longines celebrated its sixth year as the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Longines Golden Slipper, also known as the `Jewel in the Crown´ of the Rosehill Carnival. On this occasion, Longines was proud to have timed the victory of Victorian jockey Damian Lane riding Kiamichi, who took out the coveted title in the richest two-year-old race. In front of an ecstatic crowd at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, the winning owner, trainer and jockey were presented with elegant Longines timepieces from the hands of Longines representative. Longines Golden Slipper Carnival ambassadors, The Rubens frontman, Sam Margin and his international model wife Rosie Tupper, attended the race day and judged the Longines Prize for Elegance, selecting the most elegant female racegoer of the day. They presented the winner a beautiful Longines timepiece, echoing the elegance of this event and her highly distinguished outfit. The Longines Golden Slipper was the perfect occasion for the brand to highlight the Official Watch of the event, a model from the Record collection. This line combines classic elegance and excellence, aspiring to become the spearheads of the brand. Moreover, the automatic timepieces of this collection house a chronometer movement with unique properties, certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

    Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano 2019

    On Sunday, as the Official Partner of the Organización Latinoamericana de Fomento del Pura Sangre de Carrera (OSAF), Longines was proud to time all the races of the Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano in Santiago (Chile). Ya Primo ridden by Jeremy Laprida won the highlight race of the 2019 Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano. The 2019 Longines Cup Carlos Campino was claimed by Bernardo León on Lluvia de Plata. In keeping with the brand’s motto ‘Elegance is an Attitude’, Longines also hosted its famous Longines Prize for Elegance, celebrating individual expressions of elegance, and rewarding a Gentleman and a Lady from the public with a Longines timepiece.   The spectators attending this much-anticipated racing rendezvous had the opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event: a sporty model from the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection. This watch represents the ultimate step in quartz precision wristwatches, featuring timekeeping technology pioneered by the Swiss watch brand. In 2020, the Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano will take place in Argentina.

    Longines receives an Appreciation Award in honor of its partnership with the Dubai World Cup

    Longines, represented by its Vice President and Head of International Marketing Juan-Carlos Capelli, was presented yesterday evening with an Appreciation Award from the hands of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his son HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This award celebrates the brand’s partnership with the Dubai World Cup to be held on March 31, 2018 at the Meydan Racetrack. As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the event, Longines is also the Presenting Partner of the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, the most important turf race of the day.

    The Heller Family celebrated by Longines and the OSAF

    On 10 March 2018, Longines and the OSAF (Organización Sudamericana de Fomento del Sangre Pura de Carrera) were proud to grant the Heller Family a special award during a gala dinner held at the Hyatt Centric Montevideo in Uruguay. Liliana and Carlos Heller, recipients of the award, are breeders and owners, operating their major Thoroughbred farms in Chile, Stud-Haras Don Alberto, and in Lexington, Kentucky. During the evening, Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice-President of Longines and Head of International Marketing had the pleasure to grant the deserving family elegant Longines timepieces.%break% The ceremony honoring the commitment of the Heller Family in horse racing all around the world and particularly in Latin America was attended by representatives of the discipline. This event was held on the weekend of the Longines Grand Premio Latinoamericano, the most important international Group 1 horse race in Latin America, of which the Swiss watchbrand is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper.

    The Swiss watch brand Longines celebrated its third year as Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Golden Slipper at the 62nd run of the prestigious race known as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of the Rosehill Carnival.  In front of an impressive crowd at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, the winning owner, trainer and jockey were presented with elegant Longines watches from the hands of Longines Australia representative. The not-to-be-missed event also featured four other Group 1 races, The George Ryder Stakes, The Ranvet Stakes, The Galaxy & The Rosehill Guineas, marking this as one of the best race days for the year.  Longines Golden Slipper Carnival ambassador Kyly Clarke also attended the race day alongside Australia favourite Milliner Nerida Winter and had a hand in shortlisting the finalists for The Longines Prize for Elegance competition as part of the Australian Turf Club’s ‘Fashion Chute’ competition. On her experience in being a first time judge, Longines Golden Slipper Carnival ambassador Kyly Clarke commented: “it was an amazing experience for me to be able to nominate and present The Longines Prize for Elegance to a well-deserved winner”. Clarke presented Tanya Lazarou, the winner of The Longines Prize for Elegance, a beautiful Longines timepiece echoing the elegance of this event and her highly distinguished outfit. The Longines Golden Slipper was the perfect occasion to discover The Longines Master Collection, the Official Watch of the event.  Made from elegant steel and 18 Karat Rose Gold, the timepiece fitted with self-winding movement and featuring a perfectly round bezel, embodies the brand’s values of elegance, tradition and performance.

    The Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, of which Longines is the Official Timekeeper, is one of the world’s top global venues of thoroughbred racing. As unique as it is prestigious, the Dubai World Cup Carnival hosts a dozen race days from January to the end of March. It closes with the Dubai World Cup, which sees nine races take place during that day, culminating with the eponymous race, claimed this year by Thunder Snow led by Christophe Soumillon.   This feature race was preceded notably by the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, the most important turf race of the day, won by Hawkbill ridden by William Buick. The Swiss watch brand, represented by Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President and Head of International Marketing and Patrick Aoun, Brand Manager for Longines Middle East, was proud to reward the winning connections of the race with elegant Longines timepieces.   A highly anticipated event for the highest level of racing fans, the Dubai World Cup is also distinguished by its elegant attendance.     Yesterday, the Hipodromo Nacional de Maroñas hosted the 2018 Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano, of which the Swiss watch brand is the proud Title Partner and the Official Timekeeper. Roman Rosso ridden by Wilson Moreyra won the highlight race of the 2018 Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano. The Longines Cup Clásico Diana was claimed by Julio Méndez on Sexy Reasons. As the Official Partner of the Organización Latinoamericana de Fomento del Pura Sangre de Carrera (OSAF), Longines is proud to have timed all the races of the Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano in Montevideo, Uruguay.     Longines honoured the winners of the 2016-2017 UAE racing season a few days before the Dubai World Cup

    Longines rewarded the leading owner, trainer and jockey of the 2016-2017 UAE racing season four days before the Dubai World Cup. They received elegant Longines watches for their amazing performance. This prize-giving ceremony, which took place on Wednesday morning at the Meydan Racecourse, was also the time for the Post-Position Draw of the nine races of the Dubai World Cup, which will be run on Saturday 25 March.
