Christian Ahlmann wins the Longines Grand Prix in Basel

Numerous visitors witnessed this 5-star-event at the St. Jakobshalle and admired the performances of the world’s best riders and horses. During the spectacular Longines Grand Prix on Sunday, one of the highlights of this year’s Longines CSI Basel, the best pair was Christian Ahlmann (GER) on Codex One. Penelope Leprevost (FRA) on Vagabond de la Pomme finished second while last year’s winner Luciana Diniz (POR) riding Fit for Fun reached the third place. The winner was presented with an elegant Longines timepiece by Walter von Känel, President of Longines.

Best Swiss rider of the competition was Longines Ambassadress of Elegance Jane Richard Philips (10th place) while French rider Roger Yves Bost was honoured as most successful rider of the whole event.

The watch brand is proud to have supported the Longines CSI Basel for the third year in a row as the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper. This partnership is highly representative of Longines' intrinsic values, such as elegance, performance and the passion for horses and equestrian sports and reaffirms the Swiss watch brand's commitment in this field. Longines' passion for equestrian sports dates back to 1878 with the production of a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. Today, the brand is involved in show-jumping, flat racing, eventing and endurance competitions.

The official watch of the Longines CSI Basel 2016 watch was a ladies model – set with diamonds – of the Longines DolceVita collection. Since its inception, this line has illustrated the contemporary elegance of the Longines watchmaking brand worldwide. Inspired by the "Dolce Vita", it is an homage to the sweetness of life. Today, a new chapter in this collection opens with a unique interpretation featuring softened lines. These new variations will not fail to impress women who have made charm a way of life.
