Ben Maher claimed victory at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome

The fifteenth leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour gathered this weekend the world’s best riders and horses in the sumptuous arena of the Stadio dei Marmi, ringed by 60 classical marble statues depicting different sports. As the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the series, Longines is proud to have timed the stunning victory of Ben Maher riding Explosion W in the weekend’s highlight trial, the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Rome. The English rider finished ahead of Henrik von Eckermann on Cantinero and Jos Verlooy on Caracas, who secured the second and third place respectively. Longines President Walter von Känel presented Ben Maher with an elegant Longines timepiece as a reward for his great performance, together with Longines Vice President and Head of International Marketing Juan-Carlos Capelli.

This victory handed him one of the last golden tickets to the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix, where he will line up against the winners of the previous legs. Indeed, the winners of the previous legs will be invited to compete in the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix, staged in the famous Czech capital Prague, to decide who will come out on top of the world’s best athletes.

In addition, the overall Longines Global Champions Tour ranking battle is an intense affair as there is one last leg before the Longines Global Champions Tour finale, held in Doha, Qatar. Ben Maher is leading the charge with 284 points, ahead of Alberto Zorzi with 237 points and Harrie Smolders with 234 points.

The Official Watch of the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome
