Silvestre de Sousa emerges victorious in the Longines International Jockeys’ Championship in Hong Kong
Held in the very heart of Hong Kong, at Happy Valley Racecourse, the Longines International Jockeys’ Championship consists of four races fiercely contested by twelve world-class jockeys representing their countries or regions. The jockey accumulating the biggest score is thus crowned the winner of the championship. With 34 points points, Silvestre de Sousa (representing the UK) won the competition, taking home the first prize and a Longines timepiece. Colin Keane finished second with 16 points, followed by Javier Castellano with 12 points. As the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Longines International Jockeys’ Championship, the Swiss watch brand was proud to present the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection as the Official Watch of the event. Representing a new achievement in the field of quartz, this line combines great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance. All pieces in this collection are equipped with an exclusive movement renowned for its high degree of precision for an analog watch (± 5 seconds/year) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field. These attractive features are likely responsible for its exceptional movement status, to which a very long battery life and a perpetual calendar must be added.

Longines’ passion for equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. Three years later, it can be found on American racecourses, adopted by horse enthusiasts. In 1912, the company partnered for the first time with an international show jumping competition. Today Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes show-jumping, flat racing, endurance, driving, dressage and eventing competitions.Discover the Blue Horse
