Longines welcomes its Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet in New York for the conclusion of a common charity project for the benefit of the Golden Hat Foundation
For the first time in its history, the Longines Masters series, of which the Swiss watch brand is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper, stopped by the vibrant city of New York for its third and final leg. This setting was chosen by the brand to bring an elegant conclusion to a project which started in May 2016 already, when its Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet visited Longines’ headquarters in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, and fell in love with a yellow gold watch with a refined design going back to the beginnings of the brand’s Flagship collection. Naturally, a desire was born to create a signature timepiece – unique, signed and limited to five models. Finally, following an official presentation of the collection in the brand’s boutique located at Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, three of these timepieces were auctioned for the benefit of the Golden Hat Foundation, a charity co-founded by the British actress and dedicated to changing the way people on the autism spectrum are perceived.
Today, during a private event organised at Longines’ World Trade Center boutique in New York, these exceptional “Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet” timepieces were presented in person by the Ambassador of Elegance to the generous owners, coming from Australia and China. This was the opportunity for them to be told by Kate Winslet about the history behind the timepiece, the reasons why this specific model pulled at her heartstrings and her contribution to the Golden Hat Foundation.

In the evening, Kate Winslet attended the Longines Masters of New York, where she received, together with Golden Hat Foundation’s President Margret E. Ericsdottir, a cheque comprising the benefit of the auction. This presentation took place in presence of guest attendees wearing a symbolic golden hat, as autistic individuals and their families were invited by local equine therapy centers to enjoy the event. The evening was indeed dedicated to autism awareness as both Longines and EEM chose to support care for autism across three continents, by conveying a message of inclusion and the chance to make dreams come true.
About the Golden Hat Foundation
The Golden Hat Fondation is a charity co-founded by the British actress Kate Winslet. It focuses on distribution of information about autism and autism awareness, encouraging a different approach and view of the condition. It has a special focus on those autistic individuals that are either non-verbal or otherwise on the more severe end of the autism spectrum. These individuals that are often thought less capable or less intelligent are indeed very gifted in many cases and possess normal intelligence but just lack the means of communication that allows them to express their intellect. Key message of the Foundation is to shine a light on the abilities of those that are autistic and advocating for increased opportunities for this part of the autistic population.
